Class of 2026

Lina Gallagher

Founder and Managing Director

United Arab Emirates

A Lithuanian e-commerce consultant and author who tells Western brands to stop assuming what worked at home will work in the GCC, where WhatsApp commerce and a non-Western consumer base rewrite the rules.

Induction

Lina Gallagher was inducted into the CX Hall of Fame for the rigorous, plain-language argument she has made to Western brands entering the Gulf market: stop assuming what worked at home will work here.

Gallagher arrived in the region from Lithuania twelve years ago and has since built a consultancy, an e-commerce learning academy, and a book on competing against the major platform players in the GCC as a brand. Her position to the brand teams she advises is direct. The competitive set in the Gulf is different. The consumer base is majority non-Western. WhatsApp is the dominant acquisition and conversion channel, not Google or Meta. The Indian and Filipino brands operating regionally are often ten times the size of the European or American brand walking in. The market does not bend to the playbook the brand brought with them.

Her practical work has been the hard work of local market translation. Channel strategy that starts with WhatsApp commerce rather than treating it as an add-on. Pricing and packaging architecture that recognizes the actual competitive set, not the imagined one from headquarters. Customer experience design built for the consumer who is actually in the market, not the one the brand wishes were there. The Netflix framing she returns to is the line that crystallizes the broader argument: their real competitor is the customer’s sleep, not another streaming service. The honest read of competition matters more than the convenient one.

What earned Gallagher induction is the discipline of building this position into a consultancy, an academy, and a book that all carry the same sharp argument.

Practice

Gallagher’s practice is based in Dubai, where she leads an e-commerce consultancy with a parallel learning academy and authored work on platform-economy competition in the Gulf. Her body of work spans channel strategy, brand entry consulting, and the educational layer that develops the next cohort of e-commerce practitioners in the region. The shift her work has helped drive is a more honest market-entry conversation for Western brands engaging the Gulf, with consequential effects on how those brands allocate budget and design their initial customer experience.
